SUMMARY

    Necrotizing Fasciitis (NF) is the most severe soft tissue infection primarily involving the fascia and subcutaneous tissue. Risk factors include age > 50 years, peripheral vascular disease, atherosclerosis, chronic alcoholism and chronic debilitating comorbidities (e_g, Diabetes_Mellitus (DM), immunosuppression and obesity). It can be defined as rapidly progressive tissue infection characterized by extensive necrosis of the subcutaneous fat and fascia. The first report of this dreaded disease in the United_States was in 1871 . . .
