SUMMARY

    The pinewood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus (Steiner and Bührer) Nickle, is the causal agent of pine wilt disease (PWD). In Vitro Culture Nematodes were obtained in_vitro by culturing on axenically grown fungal mats of a non-sporulating strain of Botrytis cinerea (de Bary) Whetzel. Each nematode-species in_vitro culture was then extracted through the modified Baermann-funnel technique and kept in aqueous suspensions. The four aliphatic alcohols screened showedshowed high nematicidal activities activities Among tested compounds, 1-dodecanol showed lowest 50.
