SUMMARY
Cell decision making as a response to exogenous or endogenous stimuli (e_g, differentiation, proliferation, cell death or biological activity modulation) is often supported by time-dependent modulation of gene_expression upon stimulation. Understanding how and why gene_expression changes as a function of time in response to specific stimuli is therefore critical to understand the underlying biological processes. The "why" question relates to the functioning of an underlying gene_regulatory_network (GRN) which describes interactions between genes through their expression products. As developed afterwards, many GRN models fall in between: some aspects of gene_expression patterns are then hard . . .
