• What: The overall objective of this optimization problem is to minimize the cycle time of delivering all the requested packages (i.e., orders) by the AGVs. Given the NP-hard nature of this optimization problem, the authors propose different assignment rules that are subsequently implemented in the simulation framework. A sensitivity analysis is conducted to determine the optimal number of AGVs required to achieve peak system performance under each heuristic strategy.
