- what: The authors assess the oral infectivity of Mte- and soil-bound prions. The authors orally dosed experimental animals with a common clay mineral, montmorillonite, or whole soils laden with infectious prions, and compared the transmissibility to unbound agent. The experiments described above were conducted using the Hyper (HY) strain of hamster-adapted TME agent (PrPHY).
