SUMMARY
In this production, many insect pests provoke economic losses, and among them, scale insects (Hemiptera: Coccoidea) cause direct and indirect damage that affect the phenology of the plant (Novoa et_al, 2015; Jayanthi et_al, 2016; Mohamed et_al, 2009; Monteiro et_al, 2021b). The most important one is the pink sugarcane mealybug Saccharicoccus sacchari (Cockerell, 1895) (Hemiptera: Pseudococcidae) attacking roots and from basal to apical nodes (Tohamy et_al, 2008; Monteiro et_al, 2021b).
