SUMMARY

    Specifically, PPI in research have led to several advances in the field of MSK research e_g, the establishment of the Cochrane musculoskeletal consumer group, patient involvement with outcomes research and establishment of patient research partner groups. Inconsistencies in processes versus impact evaluation, failure to distinguish between PPI in research versus PPI in evidence-based knowledge mobilisation, and PPI in healthcare delivery, may have led to an oversight of the need for PPI in implementation and healthcare delivery.
