Patients with longstanding ulcerative colitis in remission do not have more irritable bowel syndrome-like symptoms than controls

Lundgren from the Between May , to February , all patients with UC who underwent a surveillance colonoscopy at the endoscopy unit at Umeå University hospital were invited to participate in the study (n=216)At our clinic all patients with an extensive UC are invited to enter a surveillance colonoscopy program for ten years after diagnosis with the aim to detect dysplasia and early cancer. Control subjects were recruited from patients who underwent a surveillance colonoscopy due to hereditary familiar colon cancer.
