- what: The aim of the second experiment was to assess the ecological validity of the VR experiment. The authors report that this adaptive behavior is abolished following unilateral damage to the temporal lobe. Contrary to SM, the three patients selected in this study had unilateral lesions that, in addition, were not restricted to the amygdala.
