- what: The authors demonstrate Frontiers in Cardiovascular Medicine that inhibition of eATP release, likely from Panx 1 channels, by spironolactone downregulates the intercellular communication leading to significantly reduced macrophage and SMC activation. This study shows that spironolactone can be effectively used for the significant mitigation of vascular inflammation and remodeling to inhibit the AAA progression.
