Photocatalytic removal of antibiotics from wastewater using the ceo2/zno heterojunction

HIGHLIGHTS

SUMMARY

In the constantly and rapidly evolving world, finding solutions to protect the environment has been a priority lately. The authors followed the efficiency of some zinc oxide and cerium dioxide heterostructured materials synthesized in the laboratory towards the photocatalytic degradation of a classical antibiotic (chlortetracycline) and a third-generation cephalosporin-type antibiotic-ceftriaxone. The main method of slowing down is through the ZnO + hυ → ZnO e cb + h+VB CeO2 + hυ → CeO2 e cb + ZnO e H2 O + O2 → O2 + ZnO ⎯⎯⎯ h+VB · OH + ZnO 9 of 15 Of 15 Compared to pure CeO2 . . .
