- what: The authors develop and apply methods to isolate and purify M. leprae DNA that enable whole genome sequences to be obtained directly from human biopsy material, thus removing the necessity for passage through animals. It is thus possible that the ribD mutations the authors report here arose nearly 60 years ago following treatment with vadrine or another PAS derivative.
