During drought plant roots modify aquaporin (AQP) and dehydrin gene_expression (Reddy et_al, 2017), change metaxylem vessel diameter, root diameter, and crown root number (Gao and Lynch, 2016; De Bauw et_al, 2019; Klein et_al, 2020), increase ABA levels and change carbon allocation (Zhang et_al, 2006; Guo et_al, 2021), and alter root microbiota composition (Santos-Medellin et_al, 2021).
