SUMMARY
Cultural heritage includes three main categories, tangible (historic buildings, monuments, books, paintings and archaeological objects), intangible and natural heritage. The most recent trends in the area of inorganic and organic materials for the conservation of different types of cultural heritage objects were recently reviewed by the group. Afterward, the authors report the recent improvements in the application of polyelectrolyte coatings for the protection, conservation or restoration of cultural heritage objects (with particular focus on stone, metal and artifacts of organic nature, such as paper, leather, wood or textile).
