SUMMARY
Infant directed speech (IDS) is characterized by higher and more variable pitch in shorter utterances (Fernald, 1989), hyperarticulation of vowels (Burnham et_al, 2015; Kuhl et_al, 1997; Weirich and amp; Simpson, 2019) and consonants (Dilley et_al, 2014), and increased positive affect (Singh et_al, 2002) when compared to adult directed speech (ADS).
