Potential roles of the rectum keystone microbiota in modulating the microbial community and growth performance in goat model

    Domestic ruminants are characterized by a complex gastrointestinal system, which can convert low-quality dietary substrates that are unsuitable for human consumption into animal protein. To answer the questions, the authors used 76 young goats with different growth rates as model animals, fed them with the same diet, kept them under the same condition, determined their rectum microbiota in young and adult stages, and analyzed the relationships between the animal`s growth rate and microbiota features or metabolites. All 76 goats were ranked according their individual ADG, then the top 10 goats were selected . . .
