Prenatal and adolescent alcohol exposure, neuroinflammation, and alzheimer’s disease: a network meta analysis approach

SUMMARY

    Alcohol is a substance commonly used in American society. While the association between alcohol and adult dementia is well studied, there are few studies done about whether developmental exposure to alcohol promotes Alzheimer`s disease later in life. Estimated rate - Gerlikhman et_al: Developmental alcohol exposure and Alzheimer`s disease of FASD is between 2.0 and 6.7 % and is the leading cause of mental retardation worldwide. The role of neuroinflammation in AD is supported by evidence that microglia are activated by cellular death or neurofibrillary tangles and cause an immune_response mediated by danger or pathogen-associated . . .
