SUMMARY

    LPA is a type of LCA that uses continuous indicators of symptom severity rather than binary indicators (i.e., symptom absence or presence ), which can provide assessment of symptom profiles with greater granularity. For instance, Saracino et_al identified a four-class solution among patients with cancer, which were termed as the "no/low symptoms" group, "mild depressive symptoms" group, "patterned response" group, and "moderate depressive symptoms" group.
