Mg plays a role in the immune system, in both innate and acquired immune_response, being involved as a cofactor for immunoglobulin (Ig) synthesis, C3 convertase, immune cell adherence, antibody-dependent cytolysis, IgM lymphocyte binding, macrophage response to lymphokines, and T helper-B cell adherence.
