SUMMARY

    Ionic transport in concrete constitutes the initial stage for many durability problems such as chloride‐induced corrosion, and it, therefore, forms the basis for accurate prediction of concrete service life. To the widely concerned chloride ion, it should also be highlighted that other ionic species including sodium, potassium and hydroxide and calcium ions also coexist in pore solution, and some of them even fundamentally influence the chemical and mechanical properties of concrete.
