Puerarin: a protective drug against ischemia-reperfusion injury

  • how: The results showed that intermittent infusion of a cardioplegic solution containing puerarin significantly decreased myocardial lactate production during ischemia and myocardial oxygen consumption C.K. release and water content during reperfusion (Fan et_al 1992a). These data indicated that puerarin exerts an anti-inflammatory protective effect on brain tissue with IRI by down-regulating the expression of multiple inflammatory factors . . .
