  • what: The authors show that orbital degrees of freedom provide a simple loop-forming mechanism, and allow to naturally realize the AKLT chain ground_state picture (see Fig 1). The authors note that the model can be generalized to three dimensions (on the hyperhoneycomb lattice40, which shares with the honeycomb lattice the same essential ingredients), where Coulombic phases of U(1) gauge theories are stable39,41,42 . . .
