SUMMARY
The decrease in ovarian testosterone is followed by decreased estradiol levels in the ovarian tissue, in spite of upregulated Cyp19a1 gene_expression. Interestingly, the gene_expression of aromatase, Cyp19a1, responsible for the conversion of androgens to estrogens in ovarian granulosa cells, was upregulated at the onset (p=0.016) and more prominently at the peak 12 of 20 The presence of numerous large CL during EAE implies that the observed increase in progesterone levels probably results from the activity of lutein cells.
