    PDF signaling starts following its release by specific pacemaker neurons, whose period of activity in_vivo tracks the dawn in a variety of photoperiodic conditions. The PDF receptor (PDFR) is a member of the Family B (secretin receptor-like) GPCR group: it is Gs-coupled and its activation elevates cAMP levels in_vivo.
