HIGHLIGHTS
- What: This study is the first known to examine the relationship of oral bacterial number with medical inpatient information identified from the DPC system and the results showed an association of high oral bacterial count at the initial examination with increased daily hospitalization costs. For the present study, age, gender, body mass index (BMI), smoking coefficient, length of hospital stay, hospitalization costs, and comorbidities were collected as clinical information.
