Religion is a powerful social force in sub-Saharan Africa today (Bosire et_al, 2021; Mzimkulu and amp; Simbayi, 2006). With regards to illness, THPs generally treat conditions brought about by causes such as spirits, ancestors, sorcery, and bewitchment (Ashforth, 2005; Audet et_al, 2017).
