The above research on symptom clusters has supported that gender disparity exists in PIU symptom expressions- some symptoms are more likely to be related to a specific gender. Using network analysis, the authors could investigate gender differences in the central symptoms and symptom associations of PIU; network approach could provide a more nuanced picture of gender differences in PIU. Current knowledge of gender differences in PIU is limited to the severity of symptom levels, leaving the gender difference in PIU symptom structure largely unknown.
