- what: The authors develop an explicit set of criteria by which to evaluate candidate "out-of-Taiwan" markers, and show that haplogroup M7c3, analysed here at the maximal resolution level of whole-mtDNAs, and found in aboriginal Taiwanese and the Philippines at moderate frequencies, but only low frequencies in ISEA and the western Pacific, fulfils these criteria . . .
