SUMMARY
Formative assessments are designed to facilitate learning and offer the unique opportunity to impart highly specified and individualized feedback to the learner, with the intent to improve the quality of learning through any given activity. Despite the obvious benefits of formative assessment in a structured training program, it is not usually a mandatory component of curricula, especially in developing countries, like Pakistan, where more emphasis is often aimed toward summative evaluations.
