Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), previously thought to be a rare disease, is now estimated to have a prevalence of one in 200 to one in 500. The authors also aim to draw historical parallelism to describe severe eccentric torrential MR using a novel, yet not so new, adjective used to describe MR: "circumnavigate." Several important findings were noted, but chief among them was the presence of a markedly hyperdynamic left ventricle (LV) with apical and mid cavity obliteration with resultant bileaflet SAM.
