SUMMARY
The authors excluded patients with biopsy-proven AA amyloidosis or with impaired renal function and proteinuria, as well as patients who did not fulfill Livneh FMF criteria5 or who did not harbor two validated pathogenic MEFV mutations as defined in the Infevers online registry (https://infevers.umai-montpellier.fr/web/). The authors excluded another cause for elevated liver tests by looking for: hepatitis B; hepatitis_C; Epstein-Barr virus; cytomegalovirus; creatine phosphokinase; alpha 1 anti-trypsin; ceruloplasmin; ferritin; transferrin saturation coefficient; anti-transglutaminase and -endomysium antibodies; anti-nuclear antibodies; anti-smooth muscle antibodies . . .
