Sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of rare malignant tumors with more than 100 subtypes listed in the current World Health Organization (WHO) classification. A DNA methylation-based profiling classifier (sarcoma classifier) from the German Cancer Research Center (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ)) is now employed in selected cases at the institution as a valuable tool to guide tumor classification and subsequent treatment decision in challenging cases.
