- what: This was the case in this study showing that sevoflurane exposure increased dendritic spine density of pyramidal neurons in the hippocampal brain regions. Animal studies had indicated the developmental neurotoxicity of volatile anesthetics, but this study showed that sevoflurane exposure reduces anxiety and enhances memory consolidation in mice, which are accordant with others (Chen et_al, 2015).
