SUMMARY

    THE COMMON ROOTS OF INEQUALITY, VULNERABILITY AND MENTAL HEALTH measures and identifying independent associations with mental health conditions. Gender inequality is linked to higher rates of mental ill health amongst women and creates barriers to accessing community mental health resources and care. Social factors are inherent to vulnerability, that increase the risk of mental health conditions; in turn, mental ill health can further engender social disadvantage and social exclusion.
