HIGHLIGHTS

• What: This study examines the spatio-temporal heterogeneity and mechanisms of innovation networks in Sichuan and Chongqing by social network analysis and a stochastic actor-oriented model. The authors demonstrate an interesting result that in terms of innovation development, innovation cooperation among Sichuan and Chongqing cities is increasingly inclined toward cooperation within the same province.
