Consequently, the German drug market alone saw the addition of at least eight other structurally similar substances merely three years after the first synthetic cannabinoids had been identified. For cases where cardiac blood was used due to the unavailability of femoral venous blood (e_g due to post-mortem decomposition), the concentrations detected in cardiac blood were compared to femoral blood concentrations of the relevant substances.
