Stn-dbs induces acute changes in -band cortical functional connectivity in patients with parkinson’s disease

SUMMARY

    Parkinson`s disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disorder, primarily characterized by the degeneration of dopaminergic neurons of the substantia nigra. To investigate the short-term effect of DBS on cortical FC of patients, a 10 min highdensity EEG recording was performed twice: the first in STN-DBS-OFF, after turning off the DBS the night before (12 h before) and 12 h after the last administration of antiparkinsonian therapy; the second in STN-DBS-ON, one hour after turning on the DBS. Following this hypothesis, the selective modulatory effect of STN-DBS seems limited . . .
