Structural basis for calcium-induced inhibition of rhodopsin kinase by recoverin*

HIGHLIGHTS

  • who: James B. Ames from the (UNIVERSITY) have published the research: Structural Basis for Calcium-induced Inhibition of Rhodopsin Kinase by Recoverin*, in the Journal: (JOURNAL) of July/20,/2006
  • what: The authors report here the NMR-derived structure of Ca2⫹-bound recoverin in solution bound to a functional fragment of rhodopsin kinase (residues 1-25, hereafter referred to as RK25). The authors propose that recoverin binding to this N-terminal helix might block rhodopsin binding to the kinase active_site, because deletion of the N-terminal RK residues abolishes interaction with light-excited rhodopsin .
