PCOS and current therapeutic options Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal and metabolic disorder affecting up to 20% of women worldwide, depending on the diagnostic criteria used. Most studies had exactly 60 participants with PCOS randomized to two groups, however recent RCTs found very promising results when using probiotics to treat PCOS symptoms, with several studies reporting a reduction in androgen levels as well as improving metabolic markers.
