SUMMARY

    Especially in elderly patients and advanced stages of HF, morbidity and disability are high, as is the caregiver burden. As the health-related QoL is of paramount importance for patients with advanced HF, many of whom would trade a longer life span for better quality, and also affects prognosis, patient-reported outcomes (PRO) have gained attention as valuable instruments in guiding HF management. Primary PC should be applied by treating HF specialists or cardiologists and includes, e_g, pain control, psychosocial care, advanced care planning, identification of goals of care or support for complex treatment . . .
