Synthesis of high-performance photocatalysts for solar-driven hydrogen production and carbon dioxide reduction

HIGHLIGHTS

  • What: In this review, the authors primarily summarize synthetic design strategies for developing high-performance photocatalysts, in which the authors focus on the modulation of photocatalytic supports and tailoring of co-catalysts (Fig 2). The primary reason for the alteration in optical properties is the introduction of mid-gap states following reduction. While this study provides a compelling example of atomic influences on photocatalytic processes, it lacks foundational analyses required for a deeper understanding of the structure-property relationships.
