Systematic analysis of bell family genes in zizania latifolia and functional identification of zlqsh1a/b in rice seed shattering

    Homeobox genes encode a type of transcription regulator called a homeodomain (HD), and TFs regulate the specific expression of plant genes. Yan et_al performed genome collinearity analysis in Z. latifolia and rice to show that the ZlqSH1a (Zla04G033720) and ZlqSH1b (Zla02G027130) genes in Z. latifolia are orthologous to qSH1 (LOC_Os01g62920) in rice. The authors verified the functions of ZlqSH1a and ZlqSH1b by over-expressing these genes in transgenic rice.
