HIGHLIGHTS
- What: The authors investigate the association of Mycobacterium spp. and SG in offshore aquaculture facilities in Sardinia Italy. In this study, the decisive value of RNAscope was demonstrated on various granuloma-affected meagre organs, including the kidneys, liver, heart, and intestine, showing that mycobacterial RNA was not detected, although M. chelonae DNA was detectable in a few liver samples. The aim of this study was achieved in particular due to the set-up of ISH.
