SUMMARY

    At the same time, sustainability and environmental impacts in general, and rebound effects in particular, are largely neglected in the design, development, or innovation processes for ICT. As consumption of ICT and the efficiencies it can create are placed at the heart of global efforts to address the climate crisis, there is a strong need for rebound effects to be included at the center of any digital sustainability agenda so that the climate benefits afforded by ICT efficiencies are not materially overestimated.
