SUMMARY
In January 2020, the European Strategy Group concluded that an electron-positron Higgs factory is the highest-priority next collider, thus giving to CERN the mandate to prepare for a Higgs factory, followed by a future hadron collider with sensitivity to energy scales an order of magnitude higher than those of the LHC. Indeed, the extensive discussions of the scientific pros and cons throughout the European Strategy and Snomwass studies led to the conclusion that a substantial part of the Higgs physics programmes is common to linear and circular e+ e- colliders.
