The authors have shown that there are significantly higher expression levels of of Gal-3 and IL-1β in the decidua, fetal membranes, and villi in the PTB group with Gal-3 and IL-1β in the decidua, fetal membranes, and villi in the PTB group with chorichorioamnionitis in comparison with the TB group without chorioamnionitis. A previous study reported an increased NLRP3 expression in the 13 of 18 chorioamnion membranes in PTB, which was accompanied by an increased inflammasome activation and an increased expression of the mature form of IL-1β in spontaneous . . .
