    This article delves into how identity, language, and memory issues distinguish the conflict from a civil war, as well as how Ukrainian identity has changed since the start of the conflict. To explore the language behaviour and language choices of Ukrainian military personnel and volunteers who participated in the war in the Donbas region in 2014-2019, as reflected in the interviews under the analysis; Liudmyla Pidkuimukha 2.
