  • What: The authors showed that both knockdown of TRPA1 expression in the NAc and treatment with a TRPA1 antagonist reduced drug-seeking behavior and reward effects in mice that had received cocaine. Mechanistically, the authors show that pharmacological inhibition of TRPA1 decreases cocaine-induced increase in DA concentration by rescuing the synaptic dopamine reuptake. Mechanistically, the authors demonstrate that cocaine intake increases the sEPSC amplitude in D1R-MSNs but does not do so upon TRPA1 KD. The authors focused on TRPA1 function in the neurons of the nucleus accumbens.
