Regarding the different management strategies, in a study published in 2020 by Barbora et_al, 50 patients were randomized into two groups, with half of them receiving conservative treatment (anti-biotherapy) and the other half benefiting from surgical treatment, and after a 5-year follow up, the authors found that only 17% of the patients in the non-operative group required surgery for recurrent acute appendicitis.
