SUMMARY

    The vertebrate immune system has been classically divided into innate immunity and adaptive immunity. In conclusion, plants, invertebrates, and vertebrates can manifest increased responsiveness of innate immune cells upon nonspecific re-stimulation through persistent functional reprogramming, and a property termed trained innate immunity. Compared with classical adaptive immunity, which depends on gene rearrangements of antigen receptors and production of lymphocyte clones, trained innate immunity exerts responsiveness by signaling pathways . . .
